A Year of Growth and Gratitude 2024
We gather to honour a fruitful year,
Of growth, connection, and work sincere.
At Nipaluna Nursery we come together
With a sense of fun, whatever the weather
Forty thousand plants in the Midlands we grew,
Our way to take action is what we knew
With thirty Nipaloonies, skilled and keen,
From pot-washing pros to salad-making queens.
Spread-sheets, weeding, and hearts so true,
Each role a thread in what we do.
120 members with passions vast,
From spread-sheets to plants, each role is cast.
Over a thousand hours of volunteer might,
Over fifty cakes shared – a focussed delight!
Prick Out Parties, a joyful scene,
Hands in the soil, where our lives go green.
Our committee of ten steers the way,
Meeting each month to plan and say.
With treasurer treasured, and patrons wise,
Farmer liaisons with open skies.
Ten planting days, through frost and cold,
Minus seven—frozen plants in a bucket mold.
Science Week brought knowledge to share,
East Coast Field Days welcomed all who care.
And we cooked a feast with flavours wild,
Fed fifty souls with smiles beguiled.
A website launched to spread applause.
And three short videos shared our cause,
By the New Town Rivulet, we took a stand,
to support restoration, hand in hand.
And education you might ask?
Supporting future custodians we took on the task.
Big Picture students joined our quest,
On planting trips in the Midlands, they gave their best.
Homes-schoolers came to learn and share,
Workshops fostered with ideas of care.
Youth Climate Leaders were inspired by our team.
To take action for the planet with a future dream
Talks in communities, voices strong,
For trees, for earth, where we belong.
Through partnerships built on trust and care,
Our vision expanded, bold and rare.
And an international Landcare prize,
For our Cook Islands Nursery ties.
Together, we’ve crafted a year so fine,
All for biodiversity, a cause divine.
Here’s to the year, to every deed,
To hearts united by the planet's need.
Here’s to the plants, the people, the land,
To every soul and every hand.
Let’s carry this spirit into the days ahead,
For a thriving earth, where hope is spread.
Together we’ve shown what love can do,
For Tassies biodiversity, we will stay true.
